Ecclesiastes 1:9 (NIV) - What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.
Hebrews 13:8 (NIV) - Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
When I was a teenager I absolutely loved Hardees cinnamon and raisin biscuits. What could be better? Sweet, filling, and hot! Look at the picture, how could you not love these things. Yesterday morning I headed to the car dealership to get an oil change for your mother’s car. On the way there, I noticed Hardees was conveniently located and considering it was breakfast time and I was hungry I decided to pull over for my beloved cinnamon and raisin biscuits. From the time I pulled over to the time I got the goods almost twenty minutes elapsed. I could hardly wait to sink my teeth into these things! I continued to the dealership, got the oil change going and chomped down one of the biscuits. I opened the second box and about half way through the biscuit I just couldn't finish it. It was too sweet and you know coming from me, that is saying something! What was once something I thoroughly enjoyed I could no longer consume. People change. Our tastes change. Our learning's and experiences change us. God never changes. We get excited about temporal things but in the span of eternity they don’t have much significance, if any. In fact, we have a tendency to get too excited about things and we take our eyes off the only thing that really matters. God doesn't get excited about things - there is nothing new under the sun. What he gets excited about is His people living for Him. Living for his mission. Living with His purpose for us as our priority. Enjoy creation but not so much that you lose sight of what matters most. Remember…Peter didn't start sinking until he took his eyes off Jesus.
