A blog post from 11/24/10 that I wanted to share with you:
A short while ago I went to the theatre to see Unstoppable. Like most people I left a happy customer having enjoyed the movie. While I'm sure some elements of the movie were somewhat exaggerated I know a good portion of it was true considering it was based on actual events.
I then got to wondering why do we all enjoy movies like this one so much? I finally realized it is because we all want to do something of significance. We know we are here for a reason and watching others do something of significance is encouraging but also serves as a reminder of our own desire for it.
We each have a calling and we long to discover it. The only way to find it is to grow closer to the One who created us with a specific purpose in mind (Psalm 139:13). How can we learn our calling if we are not in relationship with Him?
Are you where you want to be in your walk with Him? Without him the very significance we desire is unachievable. You cannot produce fruit without being connected to the vine (John 15:1-8). May we each stay connected to Him and grow in the Lord as he guides us toward our purpose which is undoubtedly to help others know of His great love for us!
