Happy Birthday Mom!

Short post today since we got in so late after a very busy day.  We got off to a late start today due to getting settled late upon our arrival in Cali.  We celebrated your mothers birthday all day long as we drove all over Southern California and spent several hours at the San Diego Safari Park!

Two things jumped out at me today:

1.) During our safari experience, we saw a lot of animals we'd never even heard of before!  Sadly, many of them were near extinction and the global zoo community was working hard to reverse those trends.  These animals are amazingly valuable for many reasons including the fact that they are a part of God's amazing creation and creativity. This made me think of Matthew 6:26 (NIV):

"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your Father feeds them.  Are you not much more valuable than they?"

As amazing we think these animals are, God thinks we're even more amazing!

2.) Today is your moms birthday which reminded me (not that I forgot) that your next birthday will bring you into 'adulthood'. I was thinking about the things I was "worried about" when I was your age. You are so much more mature than I was at that point in my life.  There's a reason God gave you such maturity and insight at such an early age.  I can't wait to watch your life unfold and look back at all the pivotal moments where God instilled something in you that informed what you will be like later in your life.  Chase after Him, dive into his Word, spend time in solitude with just Him. It will help you stay at the center of His will for your life.
