Well...today is the big day. We fly out to California for our family vacation! It's somewhere you've wanted to visit for quite some time. We were close to CA when we lived in Seattle but never quite made it down to visit. I'm excited that you'll get to visit but somewhat nervous that it won't live up to all that you expect. That's the thing about life. As you get older you'll experience situations where something doesn't turn out quite like you expect. What I want to impart to you is that sometimes that happens and that is okay too. So long as you have Jesus at the center of your life you can rest in the knowledge that He is in control. When those situations arise you won't be as disappointed because you know that everything is how/when/where it is supposed to be. I'm wired in such a way that I'm always looking for the "why" when things happen. Why did this happen? What is going on here? What am I supposed to take away from this moment/experience? It took me a long time to learn this but real faith is not having to know why. I've known that for a while now but it took a while to transfer that from my head to my heart. That was my Seattle experience - that's where The Lord really drove that point home for me. So, in closing, I hope CA is all that you dream it will be but more importantly I pray you never lose sight of the fact that God has an amazing plan for your life, He's in control, and all you have to do is trust in Him and everything else becomes noise!
