We head home today. We had a great trip to CA and things went perfectly. Great food, great sights, great weather, great time! The one thing I wanted to point out is how Kimmi and Nadia influence our family. While most people would tell you that having a child with special needs, much less two of them, is/are a challenge I would submit to you that there are also advantages. Consider this...we would have likely tried to "squeeze" in a few more things during our trip if K&N were 'typically' developing children. However, we would have missed something - a lot in fact. While Kimmi and Nadia have unique considerations, those considerations create an opportunity for us to SLOW DOWN and view things a little differently too. Our slower pace provided us with an opportunity to ENJOY our trip even more. It gave us an opportunity to take things in, to move at a more reasonable pace, etc. Sometimes in life you have to slow down to speed up.
What many see as our challenge is in fact our opportunity! As you go through life, don't let others decide that the challenges (whatever they are) are too great. That it's too hard to accomplish something. That it's not worth the effort to try. Make sure you reflect back on your siblings and turn challenges into opportunities!
